For many homeowners, entertaining and eating is done right in the kitchen, which means that not only do you want a clean kitchen for cooking, but you’ll also want enough space for having relatives and friends over. But the common problem is – organizing the kitchen! A typical kitchen is full of stuff, and that stuff tends to be all different sizes and shapes — meaning there’s no magical solution that will work for everything.
Challenging! So check out the following 10 kitchen organization hacks:
1. Use a spice rack.
Spices can take up a lot of valuable storage space. Invest in a spice rack for your countertop or install one on the inside of a cabinet drawer to maximize on your kitchen space and have easy access to well-organized spices.
2. Magnets can be used for storage.
Using jars with magnet lids will allow you to store small things on the side of your fridge. This is another way you can store your spices. You could also fill these little magnetic storage containers with baking powder, baking soda, or any other small, lightweight things that you use regularly.
3. Hang pots and pans overhead
Don’t use an entire cabinet (or more) storing your pots and pans. Install an overhead storage unit. This will give you easy access as you just grab a pan and go, and also free up precious cabinet space. Not to mention, it looks pretty cool.
4. Install roll-out storage.
Having trouble reaching down into those hard to reach cabinets? Installing a roll out storage option is easier (and cheaper) than you may think. Make the most of the cabinet space without killing your back.
5. Get some drawer inserts.
Most people have drawer inserts to organize their silverware but don’t think to utilize them elsewhere. We all have the kitchen drawer that is just a catch-all for clutter. But you can keep all of your drawers organized with a few simple inserts.
6. Use a tension rod to hang cleaning products.
Put a tension curtain rod underneath your sink to optimize on space. You can hang your cleaning bottles with handles from the rod and save on cabinet space.
7. Store cooking utensils in mason jars.
Another functional tip with some good style. Use mason jars to store cooking utensils like wooden spoons and spatulas on your countertop. You can keep them near your stove for easy access. This will add a little style to your kitchen while saving on drawer space.
8. Add extra shelving to your fridge.
Use a wire rack or other office supplies to create extra shelving in your fridge. It’ll be easier to keep organized with more shelving and storage options.
9. Use a Lazy Susan to make your life easier.
The Lazy Susan is the hack of all hacks. Place it in your fridge to easily rotate through condiments, or your cabinets to rotate through cooking supplies, or under your sink to rotate through your cleaning supplies. This hack can save you from digging through the back of your storage and instead give you the option of a quick spin to see all of your supplies.
10. Float knives on the wall.
With an easily installed magnetic strip on the wall, you can hang your knives for display and save on drawer space or counter space. This is also a safer way to store knives, as they are more of a liability if kept in a drawer.
