Bluffdale was once a small area of West Jordan, known as Bluffdale because of the geography of rolling bluffs and dales. Eventually the area was purchased by Porter Rockwell and became its own town, complete with a hotel and station for the pony express. It was part of West Jordan, then South Jordan, then Riverton, but eventually it stood as it’s own official city.
Bluffdale borders Herriman, Riverton, Draper, and Lehi. The borders have changed and stretched as the Salt Lake Valley has undergone periods of rapid growth.
