5 Easy Ways To Make Your Bathroom Feel Like a Spa

5 Easy Ways To Make Your Bathroom Feel Like a Spa

It’s little wonder that you want to make your bathroom feel like a spa after how amazing you feel when leaving a luxury spa. The entire environment is designed to make you feel relaxed and rejuvenated. But who says this feeling has to leave when you go back home?

Here’s a look at five easy things you can do to make your bathroom feel like your very own private spa. Warning: proceed with caution because, once you create this space in your home, you may never want to leave.

1. Incorporate Greenery

Spas are known for having plenty of natural elements, so adding live plants to your space is an easy way to make your bathroom feel like a spa. There are plenty of potted plants that thrive in humid environments, so it’s best to pick one of those for your space.

Think of ferns, pothos, and orchids. Also, be sure that your bathroom gets enough sunlight for living plants. If natural light is lacking, fake plants can still bring the naturalistic feel with much less maintenance.

Be creative with the ways you incorporate your plants into your bathroom to bring the most natural feel to your space. One plant might be enough for a small bathroom, but you may want more, depending on the size of your space.

Consider hanging plants from the ceiling, using taller plants on the floor, or placing them on your vanity. A mix of several different varieties of plants and ways of displaying them will probably look the best.

2. Choose Calming Colors

It’s amazing what a fresh coat of the right paint color can do to make your bathroom feel instantly more calming.

A bright yellow bathroom can be fun and cheerful, but it doesn’t necessarily make you feel peaceful and relaxed. Even white can be too energizing for a spa-like bathroom when paired with black design elements.

Avoid bold or contrasting colors when you’re creating a spa-like environment. Instead, choose a calming color palette for your space inspired by nature. Warm creams pair well with seafoam green and sky blue. Gentle peachy tones are also a popular choice for spas. Soft, muted colors are a safe choice for making your bathroom feel like a resort spa.

3. Upgrade Your Towels and Toiletries

There’s nothing like a thin, worn-out bath towel to remind you that you’re not living your best life at a luxury spa. Bath towels should be replaced about every two years anyway, and there’s a good chance yours have been around much longer than that. So toss out those old bathroom linens and upgrade to something warm, cozy, and absorbent.

Take a look at your toiletries while you’re at it. That drugstore brand of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash isn’t going to transport you to a private beach.

Ditch the products that don’t match the spa aesthetic you’re going for. It could be the label on the bottle, the smell, or anything else about it that just isn’t working. All those sensations play into the spa feeling, so choose visually appealing products that smell good and make you feel like a million bucks.

4. Introduce Texture

The key to making your bathroom feel spa-like is texture. Think about the last time you were in a spa.

There were likely several rugs, linens, and maybe even some wall hangings. You can keep things clean and simple while also bringing in texture. A bathroom that’s full of only hard surfaces can feel cold and uninviting, which is the exact opposite of what you’re going for.

A beautiful rug in front of the vanity is a great way to bring in some texture, color, and visual interest. Choose something that complements the rest of the room and isn’t too loud.

Add in other fabric elements by hanging a new robe on the wall, refreshing your hand towel, and using a basket for storing towels or toiletries.

Other options for introducing texture into your bathroom include adding a feature wall or stone finishes.

5. Upgrade to Granite Countertops

Spas are the epitome of luxury, and so are granite countertops. So it’s only fitting that your spa-like bathroom has granite countertops. Granite is far and away the most elegant countertop material. It’s beautiful, durable, and holds up well to the bathroom’s humidity.

It resists chips and scratches, holds up well against hot hair tools, and is easy to clean. Pick a granite slab that’s neutral in color and doesn’t have too bold of a pattern. Make sure it works with the color palette you’ve chosen!

While you’re upgrading your bathroom countertops, consider changing your sink and fixtures as well. Pick colors and shapes that complement the room as a whole and aren’t too bold. Undermount sinks or integrated sinks are popular choices in bathrooms. They make for a crisp, natural appearance and are the easiest to clean.
